A LONG AND WINDING ROAD … An introduction to the people, places and things that led us to Yoga as we know it today. The history and varieties of yoga practices, and the traditions with which they are associated is a long and winding road – a path currently still being excavated and examined. This workshop provides a primer to basic timelines, texts, people and places that inform yoga as we know it today. Presented from the perspective of a long-time student and practitioner of Yoga, Laura will present information drawn from scholarly and tradition-based sources provided to stimulate contemplation, discussion and further study. This is a discussion-based workshop with no asana component; it is open to all interested!

Bringing Your Practice Home In this 2-part workshop, we will explore the benefits of developing a personal yoga practice so that you feel more confident and empowered to unlock even more potential from your time on your mat by making it your own! Through discussion, activities and practice, we will: • Discuss what an effective personal practice looks like – including, common components of personal yoga practices (asana, pranayama, meditation… and more) • Identify and develop plans for overcoming common misconceptions of and obstacles to home practice • Share resources and design ideas for creating a practice that meets your goals • Create space and place for accountability and support in creating a practice of your own

Level 1 Hatha Yoga - Yoga Basics: SATURDAYS 8:30-9:45am @ Yama Yoga 3rd Ward, Milwaukee: Yoga Basics explores optimal alignment and execution of a variety of foundational yoga poses, basic breathing exercises and meditation and relaxation practices. This class is basic, but not easy and provides a foundational introduction to yoga or a well-rounded practice for those looking for general health, wellness or cross-training benefits.
Level 2 Hatha Yoga– Expanding your Practice: MONDAYS 5:30-6:45pm @ Yama Yoga 3rd Ward, Milwaukee: This class provides greater opportunity to move with awareness, refine alignment and explore poses with more attention to breath and subtle body. Additional emphasis is placed on expanding the variety of poses and accessing specific parts of the body to make more complex progressions possible. The breadth and depth of offered in this class provides a level of challenge that most find suitable for years of practice. Most appropriate for those with some prior yoga experience or general physical fitness.
Level 3 Hatha Yoga– Concentration: SATURDAYS 10-11:15am @ Yama Yoga 3rd Ward, Milwaukee: Do you have an established yoga practice and desire more complex poses? Each class weaves asana with yoga philosophy, breathing exercises and meditation and relaxation practices. Emphasis is placed on accessing specific parts of the body, detailed pose breakdown and more complex asanas and progressions. Geared toward those who have prior experience with yoga, are willing and able to try advanced variations of all pose types and are interested in deepening their relationship with yoga through dedicated, purposeful practice.
Advanced Asana Practice Group: SELECT WEDNESDAY & THURSDAYS 6-7:30pm @ Laura's Training Studio: This is a led-practice for those with an established asana practice who want to explore the radical expansion of advanced asana along with breathing exercises and meditation. We practice together all the things public classes cannot offer in a safe space with expert guidance and support. This is a highly individualized practice and geared toward those for whom asana is a primary physical training tool and significant experience already exists.
